Every Wednesday from 3rd July to 28th August:

A hike on the alm to the exhibition cheese dairy

"Make cheese with the dairymaid": how is the best all-natural cheese made? Traudi the dairymaid lets us watch while she makes cheese and butter at the Haitzingalm hut.

This excursion is a must when visiting the Gastein Valley.
Traditional cheese-making still plays an important role on the various alms in the Gastein Valley. Traudi, the dairymaid, knows the original recipes and prepares the most delicious sorts in her exhibition cheese dairy at the Haitzingalm hut.
The ascent with the Schlossalm lift early in the morning is a sensational experience. Visitors enjoy a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains followed by a steady hike through mountain pastures to the Haitzingalm hut. After Traudi’s demonstration of cheese-making there is an opportunity for a delicious cheese snack – crowned, of course, by a schnapps.

Bookings can be made through Tourismusverband Bad Hofgastein,
Tel.: +43 (0)6432 3393 -260.
Included in the price of 23,00 € (for adults with the GasteinCard) and 15,00 € for children aged 6-15 is the ascent and descent, the guided hike, a cheese snack and a drink.
