Skigastein is a pioneer in terms of sustainability and environmental protection. Together with social and regional partners, we offer our guests eco-friendly travel options to reduce their ecological footprint. Whether it’s EV charging stations or climate-friendly train connections: As a guest of the Gastein Valley, you can choose from a variety of eco-friendly travel options.

Getting there by car: EV charging stations

The ski resorts of Skigastein have one of the best EV charging infrastructures in the Province of Salzburg. Thanks to a large number of charging stations, electric vehicle drivers can rely on guaranteed mobility, making it easy for them to plan their reach and other details of their trip.

The EV charging infrastructure at Schlossalmbahn ski resort comprises 28 charging points (20 stations at the solar trees, 8 stations at the car park) as well as three charging points at Angertal ski resort. In Sportgastein, you can find the highest-located charging stations in the Province of Salzburg – you can use six charging points directly on site. All EV charging stations are powered by 100 % green energy.

A convenient mobility highlight: Since the 2022/23 winter season, all of Gastein’s cable cars can easily be reached with electric vehicles – there are plenty of charging stations!

Car-sharing with electric vehicles

You don’t have an electric vehicle but would still like to benefit from Skigastein’s vast EV infrastructure? It’s easy with the EV car-sharing project! In collaboration with BÄM Mobility GmbH, the cable car operators of Gastein set up the region’s first electric car-sharing facility at the valley station of Schlossalmbahn cable car. The car-sharing scheme was well received by locals as well as guests, leading to the establishment of several more locations at regional partners in Gastein.

Climate-friendly train travel

Travel to the skiing and hiking paradise of Gastein in an eco-friendly way – with the trains of ÖBB Tauernbahn! The direct train connections to Schlossalm-Angertal-Stubnerkogel ski resort make it particularly easy and hassle-free to get to the Gastein Valley. From Bad Gastein train station, it’s only a short walk over the crossing to get to Stubnerkogelbahn cable car, which will take you up the mountain. With ski rental options and a ski depot (coming soon) on site, you’ll be hitting the slopes in no time at all.

Climate-friendly travelers enjoy great discounts:

Just like last year, there will be a 15 percent discount on day tickets for holders of a “Klimaticket” at the ticket offices of Gasteiner Bergbahnen AG in the 2023/24 winter season.
