Challenging terrain and one-of-a-kind views: Experienced hikers are in for a special mountain experience on the Tauernblick circular ridge trail at Schlossalm. The trail is flanked by precipitous drops and offers stunning views of the depths below as well as across the mountains of Hohe Tauern National Park. Please note that this trail is only recommended for sure-footed hikers with a head for heights!

Gratrundweg Tauernblick trail – route description

This challenging circular hiking trail starts at approximately 2,050 meters above sea level, at the mountain station of Bad Hofgastein’s Schlossalmbahn cable car. From there, the signposted, marked trail takes experienced hikers along the ridge up towards Mauskarspitze and back. Steep drops to both sides of the secured path along the narrow ridge make this high-alpine trail only suitable for experienced hikers. The trail is not stroller-friendly, and solid footwear and a head for heights are absolute musts if you want to walk along this impressive circular ridge trail.
