Blue, red, or black: Thanks to its varied ski resorts, Skigastein is a popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts of all skill levels. While experienced riders can swoosh down the more challenging ski runs, beginners enjoy the gentle hills at the family-friendly ski resorts. Here’s an overview of the three areas:
True to the “ski-in, ski-out” motto, you can easily get from point A to point B on your skis right in the heart of Skigastein. Long runs down the valley and a seamless network of trails let you effortlessly reach all your destinations for the day on skis. Without having to take a bus or drive, you can enjoy numerous slopes of all difficulty levels right on the spot—including breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain landscape. The Schlossalm-Angertal-Stubnerkogel family ski area is also the largest contiguous ski area in Skigastein.
Furthermore, the ski area is the ideal practice ground for anyone just starting out in winter sports. Unbeatable highlights for the kids: the Gasti Snow Park at the Angertal Ski Center and on the Buchebenwiese at Stubnerkogel. On the beginner slopes, skiing almost comes naturally: conveyor belts and a variety of practice features help young skiers get started on their winter sports journey. Whether you’re a pro or a beginner, a stop at one of the cozy ski huts on the Schlossalm is definitely worth it—look forward to delicious cuisine high above the valley!
Do you love conquering perfectly groomed slopes, but also feel right at home off the marked trails? At the Sportgastein ski resort, freeriders and traditional skiers alike will find what they’re looking for: unbridled winter sports fun awaits both on and off the slopes. When freeriding, you’ll enjoy fresh powder to the fullest and glide swiftly through deep snow. At an elevation of 1,590 to 2,650 meters, this paradise of slopes and powder in the Ski amadé region stretches across more than 24 kilometers of adventurous runs. Sportgastein is also located right next to the core zone of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Three official ski routes—Golden Powder, Golden Rush, and Golden Ride—offer thrilling experiences for freeride enthusiasts and take the excitement to new heights.
One thing you should never overlook: your personal safety. Stop by the Freeride Info Base at the Goldbergbahn mountain station in Sportgastein to learn about the required equipment, proper conduct for this sport, and important safety warnings!
Anyone who prefers to take it a little easier will feel right at home in Dorfgastein. The ski area offers 70 kilometers of slopes with particularly gentle gradients, which are especially ideal for beginners.
A wide range of off-piste activities and breathtaking panoramic views round out your visit to Dorfgastein and invite you to linger and enjoy your stay.
Caution, mutual courtesy and alertness are essential for staying safe on the slopes. Only if everyone sticks to certain rules, skiing becomes an amazing winter experience. For correct behaviour on and off the slopes, FIS has developed a special code of conduct. Every skier and snowboarder in Ski amadé should be familiar with it to ensure safe ski pleasure.
