Summer solstice on the Gastein peaks

When the longest day meets the shortest night, summer in the Alps is greeted every year with spectacular mountain fires and chains of lights along the ridges. As the sun sets, many fires gradually light up the peaks. It seems as if the mountains around Gastein are on fire. You can experience a magnificent view on the 360° panoramic mountain Stubnerkogel at 2,300 metres in Bad Gastein and at the Schlossalm above Bad Hofgastein.

Evening rides up to the summits of Gastein

The Stubnerkogelbahn cable car in Bad Gastein is in continuous operation in the evening from 6.00 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.

The Schlossalmbahn cable car in Bad Hofgastein operates continuously in the evening from 6.00 pm to 10.30 pm.

At the Hirsch und Maus mountain restaurant you can enjoy savoury delicacies and the best views from the terrace.
 

Warm clothing and solid shoes are highly recommended, as it is very cool after sunset in the alpine spring.
