Family-friendly circular hiking trails

On Schlossalm in Bad Hofgastein, one of the most popular hiking destinations in the Gastein Valley, you’ll find six diverse circular hiking trails that begin and end at the Schlossalmbahn mountain station. These loops are generally easy to master and offer breathtaking views of the Gastein Valley. Along the routes, you’ll also find numerous benches and loungers where you can kick back and take a break.

The best part: Two of the loops are suitable for strollers, making them perfect for relaxed family outings in the great outdoors. Plus, the Schlossalm boasts impressive rock formations – including the silhouettes of mystical creatures like giant eagles and mammoths, adding an extra touch of wonder to your hiking experience.

Family-friendly hikes with a special charm

The Schlossalm circular hiking trails cater to every type of hiker. Our tip: The large and small lake loops stand out as highly recommended, especially for a refreshing stop at Lake Schlossalmsee on warm summer days. Children can explore the water and discover its fascinating inhabitants, while parents can kick back and relax on one of the many benches and loungers. Plus, the trail also leads past a children’s playground and the Slackline Park – perfect for a change of pace and some family-friendly fun.

Gratrundweg Tauernblick trail – an alpine climb

If you’re in the mood for a slightly more challenging tour, you’ll also find what you’re looking for on Schlossalm. Experienced hikers can tackle the alpine trail along the ridge, which leads from the Schlossalmbahn mountain station up to Mauskarspitze and back. Along the route, you’ll cross an approximately 30-meter-long rope bridge.

Please note: You should have a good head for heights and bring sturdy footwear for this hike. The trail descends steeply, and the terrain is rugged on both sides of the secured trail, demanding extra caution and appropriate gear.

Welcome, dear dog lovers!

Experience unforgettable moments in the Gastein mountains together with your four-legged companion – fresh alpine air, green meadows, and stunning views await you. To ensure a safe and relaxed outing, please note the following:
