Rock trail
Stubnerkogel
Bad Gastein
The Stubnerkogel offers nice walking tours on the mountain. Especially the Rock Trail is a nice possibility to discover the mountain as it is designed as a walking loop tour starting and finishing near the Stubnerkogel cable cars (2,217 m). The short hiking tour leads through steepish, craggy rocks to a nice viewing platform, the so-called "Glocknerblick". From this platform the trail follows a short hiking path back to the Stubnerkogel mountain station.
This constructed Rock Trail is around 100 meters long and partially a steel-construction walkway with a metal grated floor, hung directly from the rock. Some smaller sections of the path are anchored back by means of a wooden, injection-bolted supporting wall which has been back-hung. The remainder of the path features earthworks construction. The fences offer additional safety for visitors and does not obstruct the view. The final part of the way to the viewing platform is the 16 meters-long suspension bridge. Both, the bridge and the platform Glocknerblick are one of the main attractions at the Stubnerkogel.
Due to the fact that there are no steps along this path, a snow-blower can be easily used after snowfalls, which means that the trail can also be easily walked in winter (depending on weather conditions). We kindly ask you to check wether the Rock Trail is open or not.
