Play, movement and panoramic views right next to the “Hirsch & Maus” mountain restaurant

From July 2026, families, children and mountain enthusiasts can look forward to a new highlight on Schlossalm in Bad Hofgastein. A spacious new leisure area with a playground, water features, motor skills elements and panoramic swings is being created directly next to the “Hirsch & Maus” mountain restaurant at the top station of the Schlossalm gondola.

Combining exercise, nature and relaxation at around 2,000 metres above sea level, the new attraction adds another family-friendly hotspot to Schlossalm, offering short walking distances, alpine play experiences and breathtaking views of the Gastein mountains.

A new family playground at the top station

The new playground is being built on the site of the existing play area, which is being significantly expanded and redesigned. Children can enjoy plenty of space to play and explore in the fresh mountain air, while parents benefit from the close proximity to the gondola station, restaurant and sun terrace.

Thanks to its location right beside the “Hirsch & Maus” mountain restaurant, the playground is particularly convenient for families. All attractions are easy to reach, clearly visible and perfect for a relaxed day out with children in Gastein.

Water, movement and nature combined

At the heart of the new leisure area is a 200-square-metre pond that invites visitors to balance, play and cool off. Inspired by the alpine surroundings of Schlossalm, a variety of movement and play elements complete the experience.

A varied motor skills course
Panoramic swings overlooking the Gastein mountains
Play structures inspired by marmots and gentian flowers
Interactive stations centred around a wooden ball
