Sustainable energy in Skigastein: green electricity, solar power and PV
In Skigastein, we are implementing concrete measures in the areas of energy and resource use. This includes the use of solar and photovoltaic systems. In this way, we are taking concrete steps toward the responsible use of energy and resources.
Skigastein relies entirely on green electricity
In the ski and hiking area, we rely on electricity from renewable energy sources. The green electricity used for cable cars, lifts, and other facilities is supplied by Salzburg AG and E-Werk Bad Hofgastein.
Initiatives for more energy efficiency in Skigastein
We prioritize energy efficiency through targeted load control for cable cars and snowmaking systems, ensuring that electricity is used effectively and conscientiously. Regular energy assessments help us implement energy-saving initiatives, including the replacement of heating systems and lighting fixtures, to further reduce our environmental impact.
Solar and photovoltaic systems in Skigastein: energy generation with foresight
In addition to the sun’s rays putting an amazing spotlight on the region’s picturesque landscape, we also harness the power of the sun by converting sunlight into electrical energy and heat for heating systems and hot water generation using state-of-the-art solar and photovoltaic systems.
In 2023, we reached an important milestone in our commitment to photovoltaic technology. Existing systems on the roofs of the Schlossalmbahn and Stubnerkogelbahn cable car stations have been reliably supplying renewable energy. New installations, including those on the Weitmoser mountain station and the Hohe Scharte valley station, further contribute to our green energy mix.
A flourishing future: Solarpark Schlossalm pilot project
Since the 2023–2024 season, the Schlossalm parking lot has been home to a solar park—designed by the architectural firm “Innerhofer oder Innerhofer”—featuring 15 solar trees with a total capacity of 100.8 kWp. The solar trees integrate photovoltaic panels into the existing parking area while also providing shade for the parking spaces below.
