Biodiversity in the mountains of Gastein

Lush green pastures, dense forests, and colorful fields of flowers: The mountain world is home to a variety of animals, plants, and insects. Gasteiner Bergbahnen AG is committed to protecting the green spaces of our region – with the aim of shaping our unique landscape and preserving and even expanding the biodiversity of Gastein.

Mindful cultivation as a key

Perfect slopes in winter, breathtaking hiking areas in summer, and local wildlife that thrives throughout the year: Reaching this goal takes a lot of effort and commitment. Mindfulness and respect for nature are two of the key aspects when it comes to the cultivation of mountain landscapes and Alpine pastures.

The farmers of the region know that even small steps, such as late mowing, can have positive effects on biodiversity. For instance, a combination of gentle cultivation, careful forest management, and reforestation secures the existence of the rare gentian flowers that grow in the Gastein Valley. All of these measures, paired with active information and involvement of guests and locals, help to keep the mountain world of Gastein healthy and to preserve the local wildlife.
