Social sustainability projects and regional conservation partners
The nature of Skigastein is a precious commodity. That’s why we are committed to a sustainable future – together with reliable regional partners. To give locals and guests the chance to contribute to the conservation of Gastein’s nature, we have established the public participation project “Skisparen 2023” (“ski saving”). In close collaboration with agricultural and tourism partners from the region, we have also taken measures in terms of forest and meadow management.
Public participation project “Skisparen 2023”
Environmental protection is driven by proactivity and personal initiative. That’s why we wanted to give locals as well as regular guests the chance to support sustainable projects in Gastein as part of the public participation project “Skisparen 2023”. The campaign’s aim was to support various sustainability projects of Gasteiner Bergbahnen AG. To advance the use of renewable energy sources, our first initiative revolved around the Schlossalm Solar Park.
Forests and meadows as sustainable areas
The mountain world of Gastein is dotted with dense forests and lush green pastures. These green spaces require protection and expert management, including high-altitude afforestation and soil activation. This type of forest management, paired with gentle cultivation, significantly contributes to the excellent quality of the slopes of Gastein. During the summer season, the slopes are home to numerous designated biotopes, which are living proof of an intact eco-system. The region’s natural spaces are managed in close cooperation with our local partners from the fields of agriculture and tourism.
