Social sustainability projects and regional conservation partners

Gastein’s natural environment is a valuable part of the region. That is why we are committed to working with reliable local partners. With this in mind, we created the “Skisparen 2023” ("ski saving") community participation model, which gives all residents and visitors the opportunity to invest in Gastein’s natural environment themselves.

Public participation project “Skisparen 2023”

Environmental protection is driven by proactivity and personal initiative. That’s why we wanted to give locals as well as regular guests the chance to support sustainable projects in Gastein as part of the public participation project “Skisparen 2023”. The campaign’s aim was to support various sustainability projects of Gasteiner Bergbahnen AG. To advance the use of renewable energy sources, our first initiative revolved around the Schlossalm Solar Park.

Forests and meadows

The Gastein mountain landscape is characterized above all by dense forests and lush alpine meadows. These areas need protection—and, indeed, proper maintenance. This includes reforestation at high altitudes as well as soil revitalization. This forest management, combined with sustainable land use, is largely responsible for the high quality of the ski slopes owned by Gasteiner Bergbahnen. The maintenance of these natural areas is carried out in close collaboration with our local partners in agriculture and tourism.
