Discover the Gastein valley in winter
Various attractive routes from beginners to advanced are available for ski tourers. These are designated and secured routes that are well signposted and lead to the most beautiful viewpoints in the Gastein Valley.
The ski touring routes on the Graukogel have been prepared and approved (FREE of charge) since December 4th.
The following paid piste tourer routes are currently open:
- ST 1 Gipfelsieg Sportgastein
- ST 4 Jungeralm
- ST 5 Stubneralm
- ST 6 Schlossalm-Aeroplan
- ST 7 Schlossalm-Kamin
The current status of the piste tourer routes can be found in the open facilities under the item "Facilities".
Please also note the official piste closure from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. on the piste tourer routes.
Prices for ski touring on the slopes
On the Graukogel, ski touring without using the lift is free of charge. Anyone starting a ski tour on the slope elsewhere needs either a single slope ski touring ticket for 14 euros or a slope ski touring season ticket (only valid with Gasteiner Bergbahnen AG) for 140 euros or a valid multi-day or season ticket.
The slope ski touring tickets are available in our online ticket shop and at our ticket offices.
The piste tourer cards include:
- Use of the parking lot
- Use of the lift in the first section (Schlossalm OR Graukogel OR Sportgastein)
- Traces of ascent
- Ski run
- Gastein Alpine Road toll (if the designated piste tour route is used immediately)

Evening ski tour on Stubnerkogel
The evening ski tour on the slopes of the Stubneralm is free. Ski tours can always be done on Tuesdays, from December 21, 2021 to April 5, 2022 and on certain evenings around the full moon.

The slope closure for the slope B11 is lifted only on the above mentioned nights from 5.00 to 10.00 pm. as far as the Stubneralm remain. Please notice that during this time there are snow groomers on their way (without winch) and snow guns can be turned on. There is also no slope control and slope safety!
Evening ski tour on Graukogel
Ski touring is also possible at the Graukogel mountain in order to enjoy a fabulous atmosphere in the nature.
Every Wednesday and Friday from January 5 until March 25, 2022 and on full moon evenings the slopes on Graukogel remain open until 10.00 pm for ski touring enthusiasts, night-active athletes, moonstruck people and winter lovers.

The slope closure for the slopes B2, B4 and B5 is lifted only on the above mentioned nights from 5.00 to 10.00 pm. At all other days the slopes are open until 8.00 pm. Please notice that during this time there are snow groomers on their way (without winch). There is also no slope control and slope safety!
Rules for ski touring on the slopes:
10 piste tour rules from the Austrian Board of Trustees for Alpine Safety:
- Observe warning notices and local regulations.
- Only drive on freshly groomed slopes in the peripheral area.
- Only climb up at the edge of the piste and one behind the other.
- Make yourself visible.
- Do not take dogs with you on the slopes.
- Obey the closure of a slope.
- Leave the slopes in the evening at the time set by the cable car company.
- Cross the slope only in clear places and with sufficient distance to each other.
- Only use these routes for ascent routes / pistes specially dedicated to piste tours.
- Use the designated parking spaces.
