Winter hiking swings – A double summit circuit on foot

The snow crunches softly under your feet, the sun sparkles on the slopes, and a serene calm blankets the mountains. With the winter hiking swings, you can experience winter in Skigastein in a completely new way – between Schlossalm, Angertal, and Stubnerkogel. Keep your eyes open along the way, and you’ll discover ever-changing perspectives – sparkling snowfields, majestic peaks, and the breathtaking expanse of the Gastein Valley.
Two locations. Two mountains. Four lifts. One winter adventure.

Journey between sky and valley

The winter hiking swings connect Schlossalm in Bad Hofgastein with Stubnerkogel in Bad Gastein via the idyllic Angertal. Both summits can be experienced on foot or by lift, in either direction.

Stretching over approximately 3.5 kilometers and 150 meters of elevation gain, the route winds through sparkling winter landscapes, past snow-covered forests, deep snowfields, and crystal-clear viewpoints. Along the way, features like the rock path, Glockner view, suspension bridge, and valley panorama continually open up new perspectives, inviting pauses and creating lasting moments.

Movement meets mountain magic

Whether a gentle tour with friends, a romantic outing for two, or an active break between ski days, the winter hiking swings offer the right pace for every mood. Easy to moderate, yet always scenic, each stage is a little piece of winter bliss at eye level with the mountains.

If you need a break along the way, the cozy mountain huts offer the perfect spot to warm up. Regional specialties, hot tea, or a mulled wine in the winter sun – here, movement and enjoyment come together to create a true Gastein moment.

Safety on the winter route

Open daily and cleared by the Schlossalm piste team and the avalanche commission, the route is perfectly prepared and monitored. This allows you to fully focus on the experience: the crunch of the snow, the wide-ranging views, and the feeling of being part of the winter silence.

Tip: Wear good footwear, warm clothing, and bring a thermos of tea – then nothing stands in the way of your double summit joy.
