Gasteiner Bergbahnen AG, situated in the picturesque town of Bad Hofgastein, is one of Austria’s leading cable car companies and holds a significant position as one of the largest employers in the region. With approximately 120 employees year-round and an additional 130 seasonal workers during peak times, the company plays a pivotal role in the local economy and the thriving tourism sector.
The Gastein mountain cableways boast a total of 23 cutting-edge cable cars and lifts, ensuring the reliable transportation of mountain sports enthusiasts and winter sports aficionados to the region’s slopes, peaks and hiking trails. Together with the Dorfgastein cable cars with connections to the Grossarl valley, we form the Gastein ski area with a total of 42 lifts and 200 km slopes.
As a member of Ski amadé, Austria’s largest ski resort network, Skigastein guarantees an unparalleled winter sports experience including the highest point in Ski amadé at 2,650 meter. And in the warmer months, visitors can head to the summits of three mountains – Schlossalm, Stubnerkogel and Graukogel – with the summer cable cars and lifts.

The Gastein Mountain Railroads welcome you to the Schlossalm, on the Stubnerkogel, at the Ski Center Angertal, on the Graukogel and in Sportgastein. As a guest of the Dorfgasteiner Mountain Railroads you enjoy the ride with the lift Gipfelbahn Fuleck up on Dorfgastein´s local mountain, the Fulseck and other lifts. The Dorfgastein-Großarltal hiking or skiing link offers lots of fun for young and old during summer and winter vacation.

The first lift in Gastein was built in 1945 and was a chairlift on the Graukogel in Bad Gastein. Austria's first gondola lift was opened in 1951 and took guests up onto the Stubnerkogel.
Established in 1979 through the merger of Bergbahnen Bad Hofgastein and Bergbahnen Bad Gastein, our company maintains a legacy of excellence in quality and safety. Presently, we transport up to 15,000 visitors daily to the summits and slopes surrounding the picturesque Gastein Valley.
State-of-the-art lift facilities and cutting-edge technologies allow us to provide our guests with the utmost comfort and convenience – ensuring smooth and enjoyable mountain adventures in both winter and summer.
