Modern architecture, multifunctional and pure comfort!
From 2016 to 2020, the Gasteiner Bergbahnen AG was investing around 85 million euros in the modernization of the Schlossalm ski area. The major construction projects were completed in 2017 and 2018. On 1st December 2018 finally the time came: the new Schlossalmbahn went into operation. Now winter sports enthusiasts can find state-of-the-art ropeway facilities and newly designed ski slopes.
At the center of the biggest investment project ever realized by Gasteiner Bergbahnen was the construction of a modern monocable gondola with cabins for 10 people each. In the lower part it replaced the funicular. This means that the change at the middle station is not necessary anymore. So the new motto is "non stop to the top". In addition, the mountain station of the Schlossalm NEW was moved up a few vertical meters. This achieved the optimal distribution point. From here, the ski guests can choose between three downhill options: Schlossalm, Kleine Scharte or Haitzingalm. Another huge advantage for winter sports enthusiasts: because the transport capacity is more than doubled from 1,400 to 3,000 persons per hour, there is no more waiting.
PERFECT TRANSPORT CONNECTION
By moving the new valley station building to the other side of the main road lows an easier and more comfortable entry into the ski area. In a few steps the ski guests can reach the entry station and all other facilities from the parking lot or from the center. “Innerhofer oder Innerhofer” designed architecture is spectacular, attracting people to spend their leisure time in the mountains. All cableway constructions will form a design ensemble. Valley, midway and top station are to receive an orange-striped look. Moving and stationery traffic is to be organised completely differently. The Bad Hofgastein Mitte access road will be re-opened via a roundabout. The bus terminal is already erected directly by the valley station and parking areas are to be restructured and redesigned. As is the case at present there will be about 900 parking spaces for cars, one third of those in the new parking block.
EQUIPMENT STAYS OVERNIGHT IN THE DEPOT
Looking into the valley, the relocation to the left means that skiers and snowboarders will no longer have to climb
the underpass steps, and nor will they have to think about transporting ski gear at the end of their strenuous day. This can be deposited overnight in the spacious ski depot at the valley station. The route back to the hotel will be along a new boulevard. Nearly all the hotels in Bad Hofgastein are within a radius of less than one kilometre from the valley station.
