Leisurely hike to Stubneralm
On this scenic and absolutely delightful hike from the Stubnerkogelbahn mountain station to Stubneralm, you’ll spot your destination from a distance: the charming Stubneralm mountain hut, known for its delicious Alpine cuisine. Along the way, you can marvel at the beauty of expansive mountain meadows and the awe-inspiring Gastein mountains in the background. The gentle trail also takes you past the Talblick viewing platform.

Hike to Stubneralm – Route description
After a brief ascent with the Stubnerkogelbahn cable car, you’ll begin your journey by heading towards the popular Talblick viewing platform. Once there, you can revel in the magnificent view before following the signposted trail to Stubneralm. This leisurely trail leads hikers across the mountain meadows of “Senderhang,” descending gently into the valley. The expansive terrain not only offers first-class scenic views of the magnificent mountain landscape but also allows you to see your destination from afar: Stubneralm. At the rustic mountain hut, traditional Austrian delicacies are served as a well-deserved reward for your hiking efforts. Your return journey then leads you along an easy trail to the Stubnerkogelbahn middle station, whose gondolas transport hikers back down to the valley.
Shorter route option
Not a fan of long downhill walks? No worries! You can also take the cable car to the Stubnerkogelbahn middle station and then hike directly to Stubneralm through relatively flat terrain.
